March

Here we are doing some centres. There is a light centre, a voyageur listening centre, a voyageur centre and a math multiplication centre.

This is when the grade 3 choir went to the Festival to perform. We were singing and we got gold!

This is when the grade 4 ORFF club is presenting their songs.

This is where we were painting in the style of Ted Harrison. We read some of his books!

We walked around our class looking at different Inuit art posters. We pretended we were in an art gallery. At the end, we pretended to choose a piece of art to purchase!

We read a legend and an informative text about 'la poupée porteuse'. We had to wear gloves to hold the doll. In Nunavut, moms wore special coats to keep their babies warm on their backs until they're two years old. The doll is a collector's item and hand made.

In these pictures we are making our whistles. Mme Donna put our pottery in the kiln and then we glazed it. Our theme was Arctic animals.

Here we are organizing pictures of the north with our groups. After, we looked at our classmate's work and explained ours to them.

Here Mme Wendy was teaching us all about the Inuit and Nunavut culture. She showed us a lot of pictures on the Smartboard. Here is one of our friends doing the airplane game. We also played the staring competition.

We also had Constable Boileau come for a visit and presentation about Personal Safety. He made sure we all know our addresses and phone numbers.

Here we got a box of sugar cubes and we got to make igloos out of them.

This centre was for exploring Inuit tools. We got to touch them and read about them.

Here we are looking at pictures of huskies and then drawing them.

We are listening to Inuit songs and then drawing what we hear.

We are drawing the provinces and territories on an erasable map of Canada using the iPad and an atlas.

Here we are doing the Inuit games and art centres. We had to wear gloves again to protect the items.

Our final Inuit centre was reading books. We studied many legends.

For our spring break party we enjoyed the delicious snacks and played Minute to Win It! Ask me to tell you about the 5 games we had 1 minute to play in our groups. They were called Bouncing Balloons, Junk in the Trunk, Balance the Dice, Chopstick Challenge and Bingo Chips and Straws!

Have a great spring break and see you in April!
