February

Here we are presenting our French speeches in front of the class.

We walked around the class and asked a question to collect information. Then we made a graph and wrote about it.

We are sorting different sounds in high or low pitch and natural or artificial.

We played the ukulele in music class.

After watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we danced the Oompa Loompa dance! We also compared the movie to the book.

A guest reader came in to read to us for I love to read!

The grade 3's in choir were performing at a church. It was very fun!

We learned the food they ate in ancient Egyptian time.

We were doing French centres to learn about the voyageurs, play sound games, listen to books and watch French videos.

With a special artist, we drew portraits in the style of Modigliani. She will be coming back for two more visits.

Here we were handing out our Valentine cards. The students made envelopes and decorated them.

This is when we had Fuzzy Buddy Day and we could bring our stuffies to school. We took a picture of us with our stuffie and then wrote a paragraph about them in French.

We were making our voyageur art projects. We cut out our faces and made ourselves a voyageur with a background.

We are eating our pancake lunch in our classroom to celebrate Festival du voyageur.

Here are all our centres for the Festival du voyageur day. We did dancing, knitting, eating bannock and hot chocolate, playing bingo, crafting and outside play. A student took all of our pictures since Mme was working with the younger grades that day!

When the grade 4's went to Oak Hammock Marsh, we played voyageur games. We learned about the fur trade and we learned about animals.

Here we are playing in the Discovery Centre.

Here we are learning belly breathing with Mme Dana. She also taught us about stress, helpful and unhelpful thoughts. Some stress is good for us but not too much!

We're writing fractured fairy tales. Mme read lots of them to us and now we're writing our own.

We are very proud of the students who presented their speeches in the gym!

Today we got new French books and tried out our strategies in our groups.
