November

We are reading Wonder. It is really good so far!

We are doing an author study of Elise Gravel. She writes and illustrates all of her books. She lives in Quebec.

We are working on beading our memory pouches. It is hard work but we are getting better and better each time!

We read a story about peace. Then we wrote about what peace means to us and we put all of our answers on the bulletin board.

We wrote a recipe for peace with Mme Hernandez.

We talked about our responsibilities at home and at school and made a poster.

We worked together to solve puzzles.

We read many books about refugees.

We studied artist Norval Morrisseau and used pastels and paint to create our own owls.

We still have free time on Fridays if we are done all of our work. We like to build, draw, create and play!

We learned how to magnetize a paperclip.

We learned different ways to create static electricity.

We created mazes and used magnets to help move our objects through the maze.

We tested different materials to see which ones would be attracted to static electricity.

We played math games using the Power of Ten cards.

We use the library when we have centers.

We use manipulatives to help us figure out math problems.

We use the iPads to do Reflex Math, RAZ-Kids, Je lis, je lis and Epic. We are learning some new math games on the iPads as well.

We used Bananagrams to help us make words and find the big word when Mme gave us mixed up letters.

We read a book called Art All Around us and we wrote what new things we learned.

We played charades!

We did more journal writing.

We are starting to learn about maps, continents and oceans.

We love to go to the library to pick out new books.

We hope you have a wonderful day and we hope you enjoyed our November blog entry. See you again in December!!

October

Here we are making paintings of trees. We started with the background.

On Fridays, we like playing with toys during our free time as long as we are done all our work!

We play math games when we finish our math jobs.

We worked in partners to solve math problems.

We took a paper and put a leaf under it. We used crayons to rub the texture of the leaf on the page.

Here we are adding the trees and different colours of paint for the leaves.

We played Pictionary with our mini white boards and a partner.

We are working on Words Their Way word sorts. We reviewed vowels.

We sorted the words, wrote them, wrote sentences with them and made a word search with them.

Mme made the cranberry bread recipe for everyone to try from the Cranberry Thanksgiving book we read.

Mme Kylie helped us made a picture using dots to represent beads. She is teaching us all about beading.

We did an experiment with marshmallows and we ate one!

Here is our bulletin board for our fall trees.

Mme gave us pumpkins for our desks.

Here is some more word work!

We made patterns for math.

We were experimenting with magnets to see which materials would be attracted to the magnet.

We made monsters for art and then we wrote about them in French.

We measured monsters using our rulers.

The second visit with Mme Kylie was when we cut out the felt for our memory pouch. We also listened to stories about residential schools and we learned more about beading.

We are working in small groups to write about what it means to be a good friend!

Here are our monsters and pumpkins.

Mme was sad that she could not be at school with us on Friday, but her sister, Constable Cross, and her partner visited us to take a picture so she could see our costumes!
