February

These are our hearts. We wrote something nice that we did on them for our kindness challenge. The trees in the middle are the people we love and like!

On this day we talked about the bison and we passed around parts of the bison's body. The important lesson that we learned was to use all the parts of the animal and not waste anything.

We did some research on Olympic gold medals!

We decorated a Valentine's box and exchanged cards.

This is when Mme Donna came and we looked at all of her pottery and the decorations. We were designing whistles to be arctic animals. Next time she comes, we will make our whistles on March 14. Mme Donna showed us her real narwhal tusk and we got to touch it! We learned that we shouldn't put tiny details on our pottery because it will be hard to see. Her pottery and the tusk are beautiful!

This is the Concours d'art oratoire and these students represented our class. It was nice to hear what everyone had to say in their speeches. We are very proud of all of our students for writing a speech and presenting it.

We are doing different math centres. There were four different centres: fractions, Reflex, multiplication game and the calculator game. They were fun and interesting!

One of the experiments that we did in science was learning about how light travels in a straight line.

We were mixing colours to make new colours.

We were seeing what it would look like if we put a straw in a glass of water. It looks bigger under water.

We had bags full of objects. We had a flashlight to see if the objects were transparent, translucent or opaque.

In the first picture, everyone was drawing and cutting out fractions to put them in order. In the second picture, we counted to see how many cinnamon hearts there were in the jar. Before we counted them we estimated how many we thought there were. The final count was 260, it was easier to count by 10's so we grouped them in 10's.

This was the pancake lunch and we got to eat pancakes, sausages, fruit punch and oranges!

On voyageur day we went to the library to look and touch at voyageur artifacts with M. Lacroix.

We played bingo.

We made tiny voyageur crafts.

We drank hot chocolate and ate bannock. It was delicious!
We also went outside for sledding and sled races. We also danced with Mme Lachance and Mme Pelletier!

We had an amazing month!

January

This is us doing our country projects. We were put into groups and we had to do a lot of research for our projects. After all the hard work, we presented a Keynote slideshow using the iPads and a shoe box full of objects related to our country.

The grade 3's went to the symphony. We went to see the show Azizi and Aziza, it's about two twins and a monster. It was awesome that one lady played all the characters of the story. It was relaxing.
Grade 4 students were to Seussical the Musical and they really enjoyed it too!

This is us working hard to write a speech to present to the class. We had to read and research to find information about our topic. Then we had to take notes so that we wouldn't copy out of the book. It also helped us remember information for writing our own speeches.

We were solving problems using blocks. The problem was about having different shaped tables for a certain number of students. We had to find at least three possibilities.

Here we listened to many people read to us in English and French for I love to read month. It also made us smarter!

We wrote about our favourite French book and Mme took a photo of us with the book to put on the bulletin board.

On pyjama day, Mme took pictures of us reading with our book buddies in the gym. Mme Melo read us two stories, one in French and one in English. We are going to take our picture with our book buddy and glue it onto our paragraph about them.

In Science, we are learning about light and energy. We need to know the difference between artificial and natural light as well as objects that produce light and objects that reflect light.

In English we are still working on the novel Wonder and our Words Their Way spelling program.

Stay warm!
