September

Here is a blog post about what we have been up to this month at school!

We were doing an estimation in math. We had to estimate how many beads and then count how many were in the cup. You could count by 2's, 5's or 10's to make it faster.

A silhouette is the shadow of the side of your face. Mme traced our silhouettes and then we cut them out and decorated them with pictures that we like from magazines.

We were playing a French game and we had to say a sentence in French to practice our vocabulary.

Here are our learning centres. In the first one we were listening to music and drawing. We also were building with blocks, reading, playing a math game on the Smartboard, playing a word game, looking at things from nature with a magnifying glass and doing puzzles. We were trying to figure out what kind of 'smart' we are and we talked about our learning styles.

Here are some apples we cut out after filling in information about ourselves. Mme read them to us and we had to guess whose apple it was!

We were reading in the library with our reading buddies from grades 1 and 2. We also play games with them.

We were making an art project writing our names many times in different styles. You got to choose and cut out the letters you want for the final project.

We made a clay brain to show that we are all smart!

This is when we had our assembly. Lights of the North came and did crazy acrobatic demonstrations! There were two artists and one of them made roses and a frog out of dried leaves and the other one made silhouettes. You should not try these tricks at home!!

We were doing math centres. We were doing estimation beads, sorting equations with Mme Laura, skip counting on hundred charts and playing a doubles plus one game. You roll the die and you double the number and then add one.

Today we tried out Reflex Math for the first time this school year! My login and password should be in my agenda so that I have it at home and at school.

Our art project with leaves was using crayons to show their texture.

Here's the clay brain that we mentioned earlier!

We are also studying structures in science and how to be a good friend in social studies. You can ask me about the Junie B. Jones book that we read and made a review poster for.

Finally, we ran for Terry Fox today! Here is our bulletin board of runners telling what we think a hero is.
