January

Here is our finished owl art, in the style of Norval Morrisseau.

Here is our Elise Gravel bulletin board. We read her stories and wrote paragraphs in French about the animals in her books.

Here are our mittens we made with dots to represent beads. We read The Moccasin Goalie to inspire us.

We also created Inukshuks for art after reading Un Inukshuk solitaire.

We made different designs of rooftops and tested them with weights to see which one was the strongest.

We made tipis with sticks and a leather tie. We are using many materials from the science crate that we borrowed from the University of Manitoba.

We looked at beading designs.

We looked at different materials for making structures.

We also made the archway of an igloo. Later we drew an igloo in our sketchbooks.

We tested plastic, leather and canvas to see which one absorbs water.

We folded paper to see which one was stronger. The triangle was stronger!

We made posters for our play about the three little pigs.

We presented the play to our class in French.

We are reading fractured fairy tales.

Fractured fairy tales are fairy tales with changes, mixing characters or told from a different point of view.

We are practicing retelling the beginning, middle and end of the stories.

We are working on alphabetical order!

We are working on multiplication in math. We learned many new games to practice and we did some problem solving on the mini white boards.

We are studying our favourite countries that we were allowed to pick. We did research online and at the library. We are starting to create Keynote presentations using the iPads.
