December Blog

Here is our December blog post. Don't forget to keep reading and doing Reflex Math over the holidays!

We were doing centres. One of the centres was writing a story where we were stuck in a snow globe. It was fun! The other centres were RAZ-Kids, banagrams, reading to a partner, journal writing and making snowflakes.

We wrote worm recipes from the book How to Eat Fried Worms. Then we made them with clay. Mme Melo came to watch us and hear some of the recipes.

We had stuffy day and we wrote about our stuffy in French and took a picture with them.

This is a video of a book about a boy that has special needs. The other picture is fair compared to equal. Mme Perry helped us learn about this.

We started to read books by Elise Gravel because we have a whole series of interesting books about animals. They are very funny too!

We are trying to solve a math problem. Some people are using blocks to help them. This was a problem about building the floor of a snow fort.

We were watching a video about a girl to wants to celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas. This book is on Tumblebooks.

We watched the movie How to Eat Fried Worms in Mme VanDamme's class. It was funny and a little bit gross! The movie was very different from the book!

This was a little play we did in French class called Les lutins. It was about three elves that lost the presents but the reindeer played a trick on them and packed them on the sled!

This isn't long ago! We made gingerbread houses by using candies that people brought from home as well as graham crackers and icing. Our book buddies made the houses with us.

We were looking in flyers and doing a math problem. We got to look in magazines and pick a toy and subtract the price from $99.99.

We made snowflakes and decorated them. We decorated rocks with paint. We used beads for the snowflakes and also glitter glue.

We made snowmen using little squares of tissue paper. We call this style mosaic art. It was really fun and interesting.

This is us playing the HoHoHo! game. Ask me to explain the rules to you!

November

We made different kinds of structures that were stable and it was really fun. We used different kinds of materials and clay. We used different colours to build our structures.

It was free time and we were playing different kinds of games. It was also the Remembrance Day assembly.

We were reading our recipes to a partner to make sure it made sense. We were writing worm recipes because we are reading a book called How to Eat Fried Worms. We were inspired to help Billy, the main character, to eat the worms.

Here the grade 4 and 5 students were practicing to go on the ice at a Moose game to sing O Canada in English and French.

In the library there was a puzzle so we decided to make it when we finished choosing our books.

For Remembrance Day, we used a special piece of plastic and painted around it to make a dove. We glued words around it too.

This was stuffy day and we brought stuffies. We wrote a paragraph about our stuffies and what they like to do. We were looking at the differences and the similarities of our stuffies. It was also Fun Lunch Day and Comfy Day.

Here we are in the library and it was dress up as a book character day.

We did an experiment about erosion and how it can change the land. We put some candy inside the water bottles and a rock too. One was shaken and one was not. The one that was shaken had broken and smaller candies afterwards.

We were doing math centres with Mme Laura. She helped us with skip counting. Mme's centre was practicing addition!

We were working on our booklet about maps.

Mme Perry comes to read us stories and talk about how everyone is different. We made a necklace with beads to show how we are all different and we wrote compliments to each other.

On Jets day we were researching the different geographic regions of Canada.
