March

Our talented recorder players helped us to achieve gold at the Music Festival!

We enjoyed some banana bread.

Whenever we write, we read it over with a partner to edit and revise. We use checklists to help us improve our writing skills.

After a lot of hard work researching different countries, we presented our Keynote projects to the class.

Mme Page came to do some math centers.

We practiced telling time.

We played multiplication games.

We did some problem-solving in small groups.

To finish up our study of rocks and minerals, we did a cookie mining activity.

We painted a city winter scene.

We studied artist Norval Morrisseau and created an owl project using his style. We will show you our artwork at the parent conferences next week!

It was fun to go to the gym and see all the wonderful projects that students worked so hard to complete for the project fair.

Mariève came to read us a story called La couverture raconteuse. We are so fortunate to have had this special presentation. Here is a quote from the website that explains this project:

Stories of the Red River Cart was born out of a gesture of reconciliation by Franco-Manitoban author Janine Tougas, a long-time ally of the Métis and collaborator with the Union nationale métisse Saint-Joseph du Manitoba (UNMSJM). In recognition of the trust and friendship forged over the years with this community, she offered the UNMSJM a collection of original stories inspired by Métis culture and values. This literary gift gave rise to a collective effort bringing together more than 70 people determined to offer an invaluable resource to schools and families in Manitoba and beyond, giving voice, pride and visibility to Francophone Métis culture.

Ask me to name the items on the quilt in the story and find the rhymes.

We worked on designing our own square for a classroom quilt. Our square represents our family or our culture. We listened to the story a second time in Michif as we were working.

We will be happy to show you the final result at the parent conferences!

Our last afternoon before the break was spent bowling and having fun being active with our friends!
