January News by the Students of Room 102!

We are learning multiplication. To do a multiplication, you should think about it the easy way, for example 2 x 4 is 2 groups of 4 which is 8! The way Mme first taught us multiplication is for us to imagine groups of circles with objects in them that equal what you need to do. For multiplication we have a book that's called La multiplication where we practice. Mme gave us partners to make multiplication questions with pictures that show the answers on the iPads using Book Creator.

We have learned how to make an Inukshuk. Inukshuks are for when people can't find their way home, they show the way. Another art project we did was mitten art. We looked at beaded mittens and moccasins for the designs.

We started science centres which are really fun to do because you get to work with a group to discover new things. There are totem poles in the science centres and some people learned that totem poles have more than one face. We have been studying First Nations so most of the centres have that theme.

We are learning about building structures and different kinds of structures.  We watched a movie of Bill Nye the Science Guy. Mme read us a book where we would try to find the structures.

In French we wrote a paragraph about our stuffies on Fuzzy Buddy Day. We are starting a study of Robert Munsch books also. Mme DeSousa has also read us some Marc Tetro books.

We have been learning about fractured fairy tales so we can write our own. A fractured fairy tale is a mixed up fairy tale. You can have characters from different fairy tales in the same story. They are usually funny. Mme explained it to us like a broken fairy tale.

Our hockey art for the winter concert.
